Stop Discrimination through LMS

General

The development of the citizens in a society is greatly influenced by the quality of education. Education is a basic human right and a privilege that should be acquired by any person in the society.

A good education from the start translates to the success of a man. Since the society is tied with providing with quality education, it should ensure that all its members are granted one. In the end, it is the society which will gain from the seed of quality education that it planted.

If the society is not conscious about improving and uplifting the education quality of its schools, then the citizens will gain just what is available. Man’s fate can be remarkably rooted from the quality of education he earned during his formative years.

For many years now, the issue on racial discrimination is still being battled by many minority groups in the United States, but unfortunately such is yet to be completely eradicated especially in the public schools. Among the ones being discriminated are the African American race whose rights and privilege seem to have been embargoed. Sadly, it is not only the students in the minority group who encounter discrimination at school, even the educators are being singled out. When members of the academic institution are not fairly treated by the administration, then this where the education problem starts.

Racial discrimination is one of the diseases which gradually cripple the education quality in public schools in the country. Misguided school systems and policies are the primary cause of the declining education quality of public schools. Ironically, the academic institutions, which are supposed to inculcate good morals, are guilty of unfair treatment among its constituents. All African American members of several academic institutions experience discrimination—students and educators.

Despite years of battle for equality, racial discrimination is still one of the common crises in the public schools of the country. Sad but true, for the longest time, the minority group such as the African American race is still in battle for their rights and privilege as citizens of the country. Without surprise, it not only the minority students who have to live with being discriminated in school, but also the educators who are non-white. Influential institutions such as public schools are not able to resolve the problem on racial discrimination, hence the issue worsens all the more.

African American students do not excel in the academic undertakings because they feel inferior about their race. It becomes automatic to students’ perception that non-white races are weak and are not entitled to the rights they are exercising. To avoid being discriminated more, minority students tend to keep themselves mum, unable to speak out their minds. Studies in the past have shown the equal performance level of both white and non-white students when tests were done out of school. When the same standardized tests were administered in public schools, turned out that the percentile score of the whites outweighed that of the minority’s. At the end of the day, it is the environment of the learning center that will make a significant contribution to the learning pace of the students.

Students who experienced discrimination in school are the ones least likely to excel in class. African American students, in particular, stayed in their comfort zones to avoid rejection just until Obama became president. Home-schooled students faired equally well with each other regardless of race.   However, when the same tests were administered to the students in public schools, there was a great disparity between the grades of the whites and the minority group. Clearly, a difference in the environment greatly affects the learning pace of the students.

Non-white students seldom excel in academic activities because of inferiority complex. The shyness of the minority students has pulled their confidence level down. Rejection is a cutting word experience that they prefer to stay shelled. In a past study conducted to assess the success performance of home-schooled students, it was found out that minority students played equally well with the whites. In the public school set-up, the performance of the whites outweighed that of the minority. This goes to show that the environment for learning has a significant impact and influence on students; and discrimination plays a crucial role.

Discrimination does not only happen with minority students, even educators are deliberately rejected and humiliated, just like the retrenchment that occurred in a public school. In a public school, African American teachers who are in service for more than several decades were terminated—being replaced by white teachers who were younger in the profession.

Educators who are African American get a taste of discrimination at work as well. One Chicago public school has deliberately terminated a group of veteran educators in compliance to the turnaround plan of the administration. They were replaced by white American teachers who were much younger than them.

Both students and educators who belong to the minority race experience discrimination in the school. In a recent incident, Chicago public school terminated non-white educators. What makes the story more unbelievable is, they were replaced with young teachers who were white Americans.

This problem on racial discrimination can be solved.

There is an answer to this issue of racial discrimination despite its age.

For the longest time, one would think if there’s ever hope for the minority groups in the academic institutions.

The best way to dart the problem head on is adopting a learning management system or LMS. Education and training can be monitored and managed by the schools through the LMS, software. It can answer administrative undertakings of schools such as record-keeping, online training and discussions, and many more. Can public education operate without prejudice or discrimination?  LMS is web-based, hence, students no longer need to go to the classroom physically to attend to class. This means that the chance of an African American student of being bullied or intimidated in schools will slim down, if not totally cut off. The online set up will stimulate the opinions and responses of all students, white and non-white. Also, the teachers will be able to provide the most comprehensive and best suited learning to students without worrying about their personal fears such as anxiety towards retrenchment because of their age—and colour.   The school should be able to keep the best educators instead of laying them off. Equality among students will prevail because of the features of the LMS such as the capability of measuring the academic performance of each student who makes inputs online. Because of the objectivity of LMS,  it is assumed that biases in the grading system will not happen.

There is a solution to the problem of discrimination in public schools and it is a learning management system, software which assists the administrators in managing education and training. Going to school physically will no longer be a concern for both parents and students when an LMS is adopted because it is virtual learning. Therefore, physical and personal interaction among students—which can lead to untoward incidents such as bullying—will be reduced if not totally eliminated. The minority students can freely and confidently speak their minds out when discussions are held online—the restrictions of being bullied and intimidated will be out of the question. Similarly, teachers of minority races will be able to concentrate more on their crafts instead of worrying about getting retrenched because of their skin colour and age. The learners will gain more substantial information and training from concentrated educators regardless of their race. LMS can also measure the actual academic performance of each student in a class. There will no longer be wasted efforts because of a bias grading system in virtual learning. Since the grading system will primarily be based on the inputs of the students, then it is assured that all efforts are accounted for.

Yes there is. Public school administrators who really want to eliminate and abandon racial discrimination must adopt a learning management system. Designed for managing training courses and educational undertakings, LMS is software available for the consumption of public schools in the country. LMS promotes virtual learning which develops other facets of a student’s life aside from the academic tasks. There are many benefits that an LMS can provide the schools for public education. In terms of administrative tasks, an LMS can be used to keep records, share materials, display training manuals, and many more. The virtual technology will challenge the students not only to handle deadlines, but to manage their learning habits well through the LMS. More than the academic requirements, students will develop their sense of responsibility and belongingness in the online group—instead of rejecting each other. Instead of physically going to school, the student will be able to attend classes and gain training online. Racial differences will already be out of the question since students will learn to speak their minds out, eliminating timidity. Similarly, the teachers who are African American will no longer worry about their age—and race—since the focus of learning is made online. Since the LMS can measure the actual academic performance of every student, then students, and parents are assured of fair treatment among the students. Fairness in judgment is expected to dominate in the public education arena.

The use of a learning management will teach students both academic matters and character-building concepts. Sense of responsibility will be one of the values instilled to each student through virtual learning. Public schools can take advantage of what captures the interest of this generation of technology integrating learning with quality through an LMS.

This tech-savvy generation should be able to appreciate learning more through a learning management system. It is expected that the school gets to capture the interest of its students through the LMS. The LMS brings a lot of benefits to the members of the school and the school itself. The quality of education in the country can be restored through a learning management system because of the character-building that it also demands from the students.

Racial discrimination can be eradicated by using a learning management system. When this succeeds, the improvement and restoration of the quality of education in the United States will follow. The society, in general will be the direct beneficiary of the results generated from adopting a learning management system in public schools.
