So, the website is completed and out there on the web, ready for paying customers, it looks terrific and you just can’t imagine how you could improve it. Therein lies the problem, how exactly do you generate this flood of visitors ?
Here’s why you can’t do it without adwords software.
You will have no problem finding ‘expert’ advise on the 101 ways of getting visitors to your site. A short list would include posting on blogs, forums, social websites, videos on You Tube, SEO or even article writing. They are all proven methods however if you want sales and you want them fast then nothing beats PPC - Pay Per Click advertising on Google.
As, I’m sure you know, those little four line ads to the right of any Google search results page are PPC ads. Clicking on any of them will result in Google charging the advertiser for the privilege of putting you through to the ad owners website. I apologise if you know this stuff already, what you may be less aware of is exactly how the big players put together their pay per click campaign management.
If, like me, you have had the experience of cost of clicks always outstripping sales then you might find, what follows, useful.
The serious players create a huge list of relevant keywords, often using nothing more than Google’s own, excellent, free tool which they call External Keyword Tool. The correct way to compile this list will be covered in another article, which I will also publish on my site. Next would be creating the content for the PPC ads. An ad group consists of just two ads and the poorest performing one is regularily altered to try and better the ‘control’. Line one of the ad is the headline and this must, if possible, be the keyword phrase, lines two and three will ’sell’ your product by describing it’s benefits and the last line is your site’s address.
There is an obvious flaw to this method, or at least that’s what I thought, how can anyone write and handle that number of ads and keywords ? I’ll leave you to think about the impact on your home life of being glued to your computer 8, 10, 12 hours a day ! Not all keywords are 25 characters, or less, in length and as that is the maximum allowed by Google, what then ?
Obviously remaining small could be the answer and just forget about this large scale approach, the problem is scale works. On another occasion I will explain why begining your PPC campaign with hundreds, if not thousands, of keywords is a good plan.
So if we do go with the ‘big’ approach we are back to the problem of handling the whole campaign. Automation in the form of adwords software, I quickly discovered, is the only way forward. The software must be capable of organising huge numbers of keywords and ad groups in such a way as to make them easy to upload to your Google adwords account. It also must be capable of substituting a suitable headline when the keyword phrase is greater than 25 characters, while giving all keywords their own code that will enable you to see the ones that are generating sales !
If I was going to make any real money I new that semi-automatic software was a must, however I was concerned about cost and my own lack of technical ability.
The software that I came across initially I’m sure did the job but I found it almost impossible to understand and boy it cost a packet !
Then I discovered Ad Grenade.
Then I found Ad Grenade that not only does everything I described above but has great tutorials, marvellous help facilties and is very keeny priced.
