Motorola fans will perhaps be quite glad reading this piece of news and will surely await the time to come. But Why?
Motorola recently announced that it is planning to launch a Google branded cell phone. Now that is interesting. Especially now that Motorola’s Droid has won big and has been awarded the Gadget of the Year 2009; Motorola sure must be contemplating to go ahead with equally good smartphones. And for this if it ties up with Google, the news won’t be a big surprise.
Motorola a few months back had told that in 2010 it would introduce about 20 new Smartphones. It may actually do that after seeing the huge success of Motorola Droid. (Take a look at Motorola Droid Named Gadget Of The Year, Rise Of iPhone Killers?…well, personally I do not agree with the last phrase of the post’s title. iPhone is iPhone, It will take some totally unimaginable gadget to take over iPhone. May be Apple itself bring out a gadget so innovative that it really kills the iPhone. But oh, why would Apple do that.)
Also, last year 2 million Droids were sold, which shows how popular Droid has become in the market. And if Motorola comes with a Smartphone branded by Google, it certainly will have a couple of advantages. Let’s see what the months ahead in 2010 have for the Smartphone market. As far af the fist month is considered it has been a little, no very, dissatisfactory after Nexus One not being able to live up to people’s expectations, and iPad being a total show down.
At this point all I can hope is older players come with better products. Motorola became a hit in the market long time after being written off. And the same can be said of Nokia. With E72 it’s time for Nokia to make a big comeback in the industry and gain back its lost place in the Smartphone market.
