Google Nexus had created sensation even before it had been released. Before its launch, the discussion that Google was entering cell cell phone industry was a thing that didn’t go down properly with all. And just after release, the fact that Google Nexus came out to be as expected and not a lot more than what Google fans has expected let down persons. And now after days following the phone’s launch, here’s another trouble – Nexus One’s copyright violation.
The name Nexus One is said to be copied from Philip K Dicks book ‘Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep?’. The author’s daughter has gone to the press accusing Google of taking the name of the phone from her father’s novel without referring to them.
If the name is really copied from the novel or not is unsure. Google definitely will deny the accusation. But the writer’s daughter appears to be unwilling to dissuade and not follow up on Google. If the matter gets really serious, they may have to take the legal help. And if Google losses the case, a lump sum amount will need to be given towards the writer’s daughter (A lot may possibly say, the issue is getting raised only to get good money. Like Motorola had to pay in order to make use of the name Droid). Google anyway these days is having problems from all sides – there is this Apple-Google battle, Google is soon going to be from iPhone (Bing will come in place of Google search engine on iPhone), touch screen problem with Apple and what not. Looks like Google’s move into cell phone market is resulting in a good deal of issues.
Sometime back Google was like the King inside the internet industry (it even now tops) but with a lot of issues and dissapointments (with reference to Google Phone), tables may turn really soon.
Let’s see what happens and who wins.
